Deanna Gronlund is a multidisciplinary artist currently pursuing a BFA in Studio Arts at MacEwan University. She lives and works in the greater Edmonton area on Treaty 6 Territory.
She works intuitively, with natural materials from the earth: clay, cotton, linen, oil, wool, wood. In collaboration with the element of chance to form organic, imperfect structures through an instinctual and lived technical understanding of the materials.
Her work is grounded in feminist, queer, and ecological frameworks. The sculptural forms she creates often utilize the visual language of land, earth, life, death, and decay. Through her work, Deanna seeks to both reclaim and complicate the connection between femininity and nature.
